The next part is the Year of Registration.
Driving instructor Waterfoot
There are 2 periods of registration each year, starting 1st March and 1st September. The first number represents which period the vehicle was registered. The number can be either 0 or 5, 0 for the first period and 5 for the second period.
The second number is the Year of registration.

For example the above plate was registered between 1st March and 31st August 2003
If the plate was 53 then it would be between 1st September 2003 and 28th February 2004.

Now we are past 1st Jan 2010 the first digit will change to 1 or 6.
So a number plate with 13 will be registered between 1st March 2013 and 31st August 2013
And a number plate with 63 will be between 1st September 2013 and 28th February 2014.

The Last 3 digits are random and make the registration number unique.
